Fearing a family vendetta by Putin, Trofimov agrees and flees the country.Pyotr Trofimov becomes Peter Thomason. He is assigned to a top-secret Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) project codenamed The Purification. For twenty years he perfects nanotechnology to cure psychopathic behavior by restructuring cell DNA in behavior areas of the brain. But there’s a catch; the patient’s brain must be removed from the body.Police work pushed Brad Zanger to a mental breakdown and murder. Sentenced to life without parole, he agrees to be the first human subject for The Purification in exchange for a pardon and the opportunity to reunite with his wife, Elizabeth. Zanger’s brain is treated in a unique sphere. He exists in a virtual world. Treatments seem to be effective, but Zanger realizes his mind develops virtually unlimited intelligence. He vows to punish all who ruined his life, beginning with the man who sent him to prison, Samson Collins III.Collins is the founder of ColSci, a technology corporation passed over by LANL to work on The Purification. He is also the father of one of Brad Zanger’s victims. Collins determines not to let ColSci fail. If LANL doesn’t want him. He will take what he wants of theirs. Collins learns that Zanger is being treated by the very program he wants. He uses political power, blackmail, and henchman to take the sphere that holds Zanger’s brain. When the plan goes sideways and Peter escapes with the sphere, a deadly obstacle course stands between The Purification being for the greater good of the world or the cause of its destruction.
